We are continually adding new colours, patterns and designs each season so that you can change your shades whenever the mood strikes.
A striking lampshade can deliver a great deal of visual impact and getting the right size shade in the right colour, shape and material needs a little consideration. Many of our table lamps and standard lamps are now supplied with shades which takes the guesswork out of choosing the right shade if you are not confident.
Table Lampshades - these come in all shapes and sizes but normally larger table lamps need bigger shades whilst smaller lamps look better with smaller shades. As a starting point to working out the size of shade your require, measure the height of your table lamp from the bottom of the base to just below the lamp holder. The shade you choose should have a diameter of plus or minus 2" of this measured height. For instance, if you lamp height measures 12" you should choose a lamp shade that measures 10", 12" or 14" in diameter. Lampshades are sized by measuring across the diameter at the bottom of the shade. If you are replacing an existing shade and are happy with the size this will be a bit easier to work out.
Standard Lamps - floor lamps normally need much larger shades and 18", 20" or 22" are the usual sizes. With standard lamps it is important to ensure the shades sit at the correct height. You should aim for the bottom of the shade to just cover the lamp holder when looking at eye level. If you need to raise the shade this can be done by using a shade carrier. These come in various heights and are not expensive.
