Dining rooms can be both functional and formal spaces and good lighting will elevate the room, taking it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Whether your dining room is used for family meals, birthday parties, Christmas celebrations or entertaining friends, this is your chance to show off your individuality and good taste. Dining rooms are often used at night time and having well planned lighting is essential if you want to create the right atmosphere.
With such a specific function, lighting in dining rooms is usually based around the dining table. To add drams in a more formal traditional setting nothing beats a beautiful chandelier. Unlike other rooms a light fitting over a dining table will not be walked under so you will not need to have a really high ceiling. Here at Bespoke Lights we have a whole host of stunning chandeliers to suit every budget, so you do not have to spend a fortune to have a dining room fit for a King.
Pendant light fittings and rise and fall ceiling pendants are perfect for using over dining tables as well as hanging over kitchen islands and breakfast bars. If you have a long rectangular or banquet style dining table a row of ceiling pendants will give a better spread of light and be more in proportion to the size of the table. Multiple ceiling bar pendants or are another great way to light larger rectangular tables. For circular tables consider one large pendant or a cluster of ceiling pendants. Lights fittings over dining tables should be hung so the bottom of the light is around 91 ti 92cms above the table.
