Experts in lighting we at Bespoke Lights, specialise in being distinctly different. Our lighting has an ‘old sole’ as they say! Historic detailing to suit period homes and heritage buildings is our strong suit. Whilst it’s true we have a reputation for supplying authentic replicated lighting fittings for all classes of buildings we also understand that one size doesn’t suit all.

Today we’d like to talk of some ranges that are distinct from the era but refined to make them more relevant for today’s lifestyles. Transitional lights perfectly reflect the essence of a period home, yet draw it into a fresher more vibrant version of itself. Allowing older homes to shine anew.
Georgian Lighting
Sometimes the age of your home dictates the style of interior decorating you’ll do. For example, if you have a Georgian home, you wish to have the decor in pastel colours to replicate the delicate shades of that era.
There’s no doubting a lovely light bright Georgian home is appealing. The tall ceilings cry out to be dressed with crystal chandeliers! In the hallway, a large hall lantern a Georgian classical light fitting illuminates the home like a picture-perfect Christmas card.

Perfection! But what if your home doesn’t suit classical style lighting or you prefer a contemporary look for your abode? Worry not we’ve got you.
Avant – Garde Lighting
Occasionally we play with elements from one era and make a marriage with another. This postmodern theme is when interesting motifs and elements of the bygone era are used in imaginative ways. Sometimes playing with scale, and colours makes bespoke lighting. Interior designers, and hoteliers love this avant-garde approach to lighting it brings uniqueness to project work.

You’d be amazed how many different eras of lighting we at bespoke lights have.
- Medieval
- Gothic
- Tudor
- Elizabethan
- Jacobean
- Georgian
- Baroque
- Rococo
- Regency
- Victorian
- Arts and Crafts
- Art Nouveau
- Edwardian
- Art Deco
I think it’s fair to say we do lighting for every era. Not only the classically fashioned favourites like chandeliers and lanterns, there’s everything from medieval styles to modern-day lamps across all types of fixtures be it wall sconces, table lamps and standard lamps.
History Repeats
It’s now become “a la mode” (fashionable) to have historic pieces even in a modern home. This invigorates, sometimes being blatantly disrespectful of the era the home was built making it more visually interesting.

We’ve noticed big blousy blooms in wall coverings, and botanicals appearing in soft furnishings, lamps and decor. This sure speaks of the decor of the past. Whilst history in decor doesn’t replicate faithfully it does so with a twist. Enliven and reinvigorated yet with the same narrative making these new period pieces perfect for older homes and new homes alike.
Traditional or Transitional
Traditional-styled lights may be perfect in one part of your home but not in another. For example, your bathroom may be more modern after being updated so you’d need to match your decorative elements to a more contemporary look. Yet having a nod to the era of the home could mean looking for lighting that has the narrative of a past era. We call this transitional lighting.
