Solid brass and polished brass or gold light fittings have a timeless traditional feel and are a great choice for lighting in Georgian, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian houses. Lights that are described as brass can mean many things. Light fittings that have a brass or gold finish can be made from electro-plated steel or alloy and have the gold finish applied. Light fittings constructed from solid brass are high quality lights that are designed to last a lifetime with only minimal maintenance. Brass often has a genuine tarnish which is useful in the manufacture of traditional light fittings. Our classic British Period Lighting Collection features solid brass which is waxed to re-create antique light fittings from the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
Solid brass can be highly polished and then protected with a lacquer to create lights that are as close to gold as you can get. This finish is used mainly for indoor lighting and fittings will simply need the occasional wipe over with a damp cloth to keep the shiny gold appearance. This highly polished raw brass can be left un-lacquered and these light fittings will mellow and look better with age much as original antique lights would have done.
Bespoke Lights have a beautiful collection of period lighting in solid brass and gold finishes that offer you the quality you would expect as surprisingly affordable prices. Alongside our brass light fittings you may also wish to check out our antique and bronze finishes too.
